Courtney Koslof Barber

RYT 200

Courtney first found yoga in a set of flashcards from the bookstore in 2006 when Savasana was her favorite pose. She was drawn to yoga because of how accessible it was to do on her own and she stayed for the introspection, self care, and creativity that grew within her practice.

After thinking about becoming a yoga teacher for many years, Courtney finally took the plunge into her first 200 hr training right here at Shakti in the fall of 2017. Her skills and confidence flourished during the Teacher Mentorship Program, which she completed through the winter and spring of 2018. Courtney looks forward to continuing to develop her teaching as she shares it with others.

In Courtney’s classes, you can expect a sequence based in Baptiste Power Vinyasa that will be challenging and fun. Inspiration for her classes is drawn from yoga philosophies and a belief in not taking yourself too seriously. She hopes that students can use the time they are dedicating to themselves as a tool to help navigate whatever life is presenting to them at the moment.

Courtney is a Seattle transplant from the east coast with a BFA in Fine Art from the Rochester Institute of Technology. When she’s not on her mat, you can find her painting, knitting, dancing to Beyonce, and playing with her giant dog, Bruce.

Courtney Koslof Barber instructs the following:
  • All Levels Baptiste Power Vinyasa
  • Basic Level where modifications for the postures are offered. The instructors offer the modified variations for all of the postures, and students are invited to work at their own levels. This class is the perfect next step for people who have completed the Intro series or for practitioners new to Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga.
