To create community through group singing has been Steve's clear intention since the year 2000. Shortly after writing it down, he went on retreat with international chanters Deva Premal and Miten, where his journey into leading group singing began. A few years later, Steve and Anne-Émilie's voices met before they did while singing at the chanter's voice workshop. Together, they travel around the world to perform and lead group singing at yoga retreats, workshops, classes and special events. Their music is infused with spirit, beautiful melodies and heart melting harmonies.
Steve Gold has been composing songs and playing music since the age of 16 when he joined Curtis Mathewson (Train - producer) and Dean Butterworth (drums for Ben Harper) in the 80's band Des Nouveau. Steve worked with the legendary Malcolm McLaren (manager and creator of the Sex Pistols) from 1984-1986 in Los Angeles at CBS Records. The time at CBS Studios yielded 4 tunes that were sold to surf legend Herbie Fletcher for use in one of the first surfing videos, Wave Warriors. The video has enjoyed worldwide distribution for over 20 years. During the past two decades, Steve has collaborated on projects with Wayne Horvitz (producer -Bill Frisell) and Seattle based producer Bubba Jones. He has also been a member of Seattle's blues scene in The Midnight Ramblers. In 2002, Steve began studying voice with the late Maestro David P. Kyle. Shortly thereafter he became associated with yogic chanters, Deva Premal and Miten. This began a new chapter in Steve's singing career as he began to lead chanting worldwide at yoga studios, retreats and spiritual centers. Steve recently completed recording the album "So Much Magnificence". The title track of the same name is included on Shiva Rea's new CD/DVD "Yoga Sol". Steve currently sings regularly for Shiva Rea at Exhale in Los Angeles and for Lisa Black at Shakti Vinyasa in Seattle. More information about Steve...
