1: INTRO to Power Vinyasa 8-Class Series
(Tues & Thurs)
Designed for beginners or students new to Power Vinyasa Yoga. You
will learn the basic alignment and form of the 53 postures in 11
series within the 90 minute Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga practice
and everyday yoga philosophy and helpful breathing techniques that
inspire and empower you on and off your mat. Each class progressively
builds on the previous one, preparing most students to move on to
Level 2 after completion. Many people enjoy taking Level 1 many
times in order to soak up all the information and apply the knowledge
to their practice. Demonstration, discussion, personal hands-on
adjustments, and guided practice, provide you with a solid foundation
of this dynamic style of yoga.

1 INTRO Series Make Up Policy and Extensions
For the 8-class INTRO series, students are allowed to make up only
one missed Intro Series class within one week
after the last class of that series. After this time, no additional
make-ups are permitted. If you have pre-registered for an Intro
series but you are unable to begin the session, you may contact
the manager to postpone your session one month. Once you have started
a series, you need to complete that session and can not transfer
it to another month. Students are permitted to make-up Intro Series
classes at either SHAKTI East or West if space allows. Please call
first to notify the manager that you want to join the class to as
a make-up. In addition, you can only upgrade from a regular introductory
series to a PACKAGE series (includes the Mat and book) after the
first class.
Level 1.5: offers the full Baptiste Power Vinyasa
Yoga sequence - 53 postures in 90 minutes. This class moves
at a slower pace than a Level 2 class, but the pace is steady. The
instructors offer the modified variations for all
of the postures, and students are invited to work at their
own levels. This class is the perfect next step
for people who have completed the Intro series or for practitioners
new to Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. Level 2: Basic Level where modifications for the
postures offered. These classes flow through the complete, traditional
Power Vinyasa sequence. Geared towards students who have some experience
in regular Vinyasa yoga but is rewarding for experienced students
as well.
Level 3: Intermediate level faster-paced flow through
the complete, traditional Power Vinyasa Sequence with challenging,
advanced variations of the postures. Open to students who have a
strong, regular practice at SHAKTI or students with more experience
in Vinyasa yoga.
Hour of Power: A Level 2-3 condensed 60 min Power
Vinyasa class with high energy, upbeat pacing, handstands, arm balances,
and hip opening. Leaves you energized!
Level 3 SHAKTI,
:Lisa Black's challenging signature style including chanting,
pranayama,agni sara, creative vinyasa, arm balancing, intermediate
backbends,inversions, and seated meditation
Pre-requisiteLevel 3 SHAKTI: Must have
at least 1 year experience practicing Power Vinyasa Yoga AND must
have attended at least 5 Level 2 classes at Shakti.
SHAKTI
Level 3 is Lisa Black's challenging
signature style that may include creative variations of chanting,
pranayama, core, dynamic vinyasa, Sun Salutation variations,
arm balancing, deep back bending, inversions, hip opening, and short meditation.
We sometimes work together in partners in order to go more
safely and deeper into specific postures. The class is often woven
together with Lisa's life philosphy or inspirational readings. SHAKTI
is about exploring your own personal creativity and strength and
tapping into your natural wave-like motion in your body.
The style "SHAKTI Vinyasa" was
created and founded in 2003 by owner/director Lisa Black (Senior
Master Baptiste-certified instructor). This powerful style combines
many major elements of the yoga tradition including philosophy,
chanting, pranayama (breath regulation), vinyasa (flow), inversions,
back bending, hip opening, meditaion, and deep relaxation. Lisa
incorporates practices, postures, and sequencing influenced by master
teachers Baron Baptiste, Ana Forrest, and Shiva Rhea. Lisa
infuses her classes with her own philosophy and life experience
that will help you soar to new heights in body and mind. Get ready
to take your practice seriously but yourself lightly as you explore
your edge, discover your strength and awaken your spirit!
