TBA For more than twenty years, Baron Baptiste has been an impactful teacher, trainer, leader and catalyst in the realm of personal growth. Baron has impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of people from dozens of countries with his best-selling books, video/audio products, public speaking engagements, live trainings and workshop presentations and appearances. Baron's books have been published and translated into more than 12 languages globally.
Baron Baptiste was born into a lineage and heritage of health, yoga and spiritual educators. Baron was bred to teach and educate. He's a man of much life experience in life transformation, self-development education, yoga philosophy and practice. Intimately familiar with its pitfalls and its power, Baron, an intelligent and deliberate man, holds himself with a dignified mindfulness and positive aire. In 2006 Yoga Journal Magazine said: "If there were a royal family of American yoga, Baron Baptiste would certainly be a prince." It's clear that Baron has exactly what it takes to continually transform the face of yoga in America and build powerful bridges from the wisdom of the east into the spiritually starved west. Couple his own true-life hardships, transformations and accomplishments with his knack for expressing words that create new worlds for people and his ability to deliver a methodology that provides individuals and groups with a means to design new contexts and paradigms in body and mind - both on-and-off the yoga mat. More so than any other form of health and fitness, yoga practice is all about our transformation and our life stories. These life stories represent our unique everyday struggles as well as our more grand hopes for personal power, authentic health and manifesting a life that has energy and authenticity. Baron, as educator, brings enlightening distinctions that help us drop the negative steam from our stories which helps us build new worlds into new possibilities. Being ahead of the times, Baron was once yoga's greatest sensationalist. Now he's its leading pragmatist. The traditional yoga community along with yoga purists cannot deny the magnetism and magnitude of his message and methodology. Today, Baron Baptiste and his educational training methods are known around the globe. He has educated people throughout the world from remote Fijian villages to the heart of New York City. People from six continents and all walks of life have taken classes with Baron and utilized his methods, from the highly educated and successful to the down-and-out, people ranging in age from children to seniors, people who see life as an opportunity to keep learning. Baron has not only touched the lives of people with means such as the Kennedys, Hollywood celebrities, and professional athletes, but also has devoted his time to helping those individuals with less opportunities. He has coached people living in impoverished areas of Central America, troubled teenagers in South Central Los Angeles and families living in low-income government housing in Washington, D.C. Baron became a well-known author with his bestselling book, Journey Into Power, and has gone on to write and create many other self-help tools, including: 40 Days to Personal Revolution, The PBS Television Special "Transform Your Life with Baron Baptiste", The Soul Of Strength Video Series, The Teachers' Insight Series, The Yoga Bootcamp In A Box, and the best-selling children's book My Daddy Is A Pretzel, as well as a series self-empowerment tools for parents and children. In 1994, Baron was invited to join the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff and for 4 years he more fully learned his craft by working personally and closely with Super-Bowl Champion coaches and athletes, like John Gruden, Ray Rhodes, Bill Callahan, NFL all-time kicking record holder Gary Anderson, Bill Romanowski, Ricky Watters, Irving Fryer, Hershel Walker, "The Fridge" Perry, Art Monk Rodney Peete, and quarterback all-time great Randal Cunningham. As the team's Peak Performance Specialist, Baron designed a program for athletes to transform their performance, and he very successfully did just that. The athletes quickly became addicted to the results. Jeffrey Lurie, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles said: "When it comes to training champions, Baron Baptiste is exceptional." Over the last 8 years Baron has founded and directed three of the busiest yoga schools in America in Boston, MA. Over 600 students pass through the Baptiste Power Yoga Institutes each day. He also is the inspiration to over 30 Baptiste Affiliate studios that are peppered out globally. In April of 2002, Baron hit the road in what seemed to be an unending world tour promoting the release of his first book Journey Into Power and shared the Baptiste Experience in his charismatic and infectious teaching style. This first book release was a product of his unrelenting drive, talent and frankly, his real-ness. There is no doubt that Baron will continue to challenge himself and his audience in an on-going Journey Into Power. back to the top

A long time activist for social and political change, Seane created the yoga program at "Children of the Night," a shelter that houses and educates adolescent prostitutes. As a result of her work with sexually exploited children, Seane became a dedicated champion for YouthAIDS, whose mission is to raise funds, provide services, and spread national awareness about the global emergency of HIV/AIDS effecting our children worldwide. Seane, in service to YouthAIDS, created the 'Off the Mat, Into the World' campaign, with the intention to use her international platform to generate outreach within the yoga and wellness communities. She became the National Yoga Ambassador for YouthAIDS in 2004 and has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars by creating benefit products with grass root businesses and hosting benefit event and concerts with celebrated speakers and musicians like Caroline Myss, SARK, Joan Borynsenko, Ben Taylor and Michael Franti. For their commitment and effort, Seane, along with 'Off the Mat, Into the World' campaign partner and YouthAIDS Global Ambassador Ashley Judd, have been honored with the 2005 Songs of the Sacred Conscious Humanitarian Award. In 2007, with the support of Julia Butterfly Hill and the Engage Network, ‘Off the Mat, Into the World’ expanded to become a national leadership training program designed to help participants find their own unique purpose through yoga, meditation and self-exploration exercises, as well as provide them with the organizational skills necessary to activate that purpose through local outreach and service oriented projects. This effort is designed to initiate social circles of change in local communities nationwide. Seane has spent time in India, Cambodia and Africa working with impoverished prostitutes and street children, teaching yoga, providing support and aid, and educating them about HIV/AIDS prevention. She is also a co-catalyst of the "Bare Witness" Humanitarian Tours, which challenges the yoga community to raise significant funds to participate in third world service related trips designed to raise money, leave a legacy of change, and educate people about the injustices happening to our children worldwide. Seane is a proud board member for The Engage Network, a foundation dedicated to creating a new model of support for social change efforts, and the Cambodian Children's Fund. Born in Northern New Jersey in 1966 to a loving and supportive family, Seane left home for New York City shortly after high school graduation. Working in nightclubs and downtown cafes, she was first introduced to yoga in 1987 at Life Cafe in the East Village. This funky cafe was a downtown epicenter for avant-garde artists, musicians, yuppies, homeless people and drug addicts. David Life owned this eclectic hang out, and Seane worked as a waitress along side with his partner Sharon Gannon. Sharon and David were both devoted to yoga and she witnessed their growth as practitioners and was inspired by the transformation she saw in them over the years. Eventually David and Sharon went on to open the Jivamukti Yoga Centers, but it was during the five years at the café that Seane was awakened not only to yoga, but also art, vegetarianism, humanitarianism, and even politics. It was also where she first became aware of the HIV/AIDS crisis as it was taking the life of many of her friends and co-workers at that time. During this same period, Seane began working with Norman Freeman, a Gestalt therapist and Zen Buddhist. Through him she learned the benefits of healing through self-inquiry. Eventually, combining the asana practice with a commitment to the inner emotional and spiritual journey would become the foundation of her teaching. In 1992, Seane moved to Los Angeles and began studying at Yoga Works in Santa Monica, while also working behind the desk. Yoga Works at that time hosted the biggest teachers in the country and as an employee was able to take any workshop she desired. She took advantage of this luxury and practiced with some of the most renowned teachers in the country including Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller, Eddie Modestini, Bryan Kest, Richard Freeman, Shandor Remete, Tim Miller, Patricia Walden and Lisa Walford. She did her first teacher's training with Erich Schiffman in 1994, Bryan Kest in 1995, Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford in 1995 and 1996. Through a passionate commitment to her practice, her understanding of the physical application deepened, as did her appreciation for the science and intelligence of the body. During this period of extensive training Seane traveled throughout India, studying Ashtanga yoga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, spending time at the Sri Aurobindo ashram and connecting to the spiritual teaching of Amma. She began exploring various spiritual and mystical modalities including tantra, occult, and shamanism and studied with various healers and spiritual mentors, including Barbara Soloman and Mona Miller, all whom educated her and deepened her awareness into the complexities of the human psyche and beyond. Exploring the work of Caroline Myss, Ph.D. and Anodea Judith, Seane studied the subtle energy centers (chakra), their psychological components, and the various parts of the body that would be affected by blocked or repressed emotion. She learned to apply these metaphysical conceptions directly to the physical asana practice and her own practice began to evolve beyond the body as she explored the more mystical realms of yoga. A passion she has to this day. Seane’s work continues to evolve and is deeply influenced by many of the great traditions. A uniquely modern yogini, both present to the challenging realities of contempory life and deeply motivated by the great mystical teachings of inspired love, she’s dedicated to exploring truth in all the moments of life, both the light and the dark; elements found in all human experience. She approaches her life with a fierce willingness to learn and grow, and her commitment to make spirituality accessible and inspiring to all is reflected by her own willingness to deepen her personal understanding of the mysteries, and her desire to share all that she discovers along the way. "As we move, breath, and experience ourselves the yoga practice becomes a Divine dance and ritual aligning not only our bodies, but also our own creative and intuitive natures," Seane says. "Through the integration of body and breath, movement and meditative awareness we are reminded of the interdependency of all things and, that at the end of the day, we are all here to learn about love". Seane teaches at Exhale at Sacred Movement in Venice, California and travels extensively teaching workshops, conferences and retreats here in the US and abroad. She lives in Topanga, CA. She has two cats and a longtime partner named Al. For more information please visit www.seanecorn.com Back to the top...
Gregor Singleton grew up in Scotland. He studied English Literature and Theatre
at Trinity College, Dublin and trained as an actor at the Royal Academy
of Dramatic Art in London. It was while he was a classical stage actor
in London that he took his first yoga class. More fully engaged with his
body, he began to see that the truest form of self expression was not
to be on a stage playing at being someone else, but to fully and completely
inhabit his own being. After a few years of exploring the power of transformational
work, Gregor found Baptiste yoga, and at once saw that its intense physicality
offered unique opportunities for breaking free of disempowering cycles
and patterns, creating a safe atmosphere for students to take on and fully
engage with their own lives. Gregor is thrilled to be a part of this powerful community. As a teacher
in both the Cambridge and Boston studios, Gregor sees his classes as a
chance to step outside the everyday and explore the energetic possibilities
of the group -- possibilities that continually amaze and delight him.
Recently, he has also had the opportunity to play a larger role in widening
the reach of the Baptiste community by leading workshops and bootcamps
across the country and around the world. At these events, he has been
honored to faciliate a process where participants tap into their full
potential and take on new levels of accountability and authorship for
their lives. The transformations he has witnessed nourish and encourage
his own continuing transformation. "Simply being a part of the Baptiste community is a remarkable gift. To have a role in its leadership and stewardship is tremendously rewarding and enlivening. In the transformational power of Baptiste yoga, I find the culmination of the many and diverse passions of my life." back to the top
